From São Paulo to Rio, Salvador to Fortaleza, and the spontaneous moments in between – Zackary’s photography project -Tudo Bom?! – highlights the places and people within a country on the move during this most notorious of sporting events (See the full gallery to date here).
Zackary Canepari – a member of Panos Pictures Agency – is one of Sony’s founding Global Imaging Ambassadors – a new programme rooted in storytelling through remarkable imagery. In reference to Tudo Bom?! – he comments:
‘This project isn’t really about football or the World Cup. It’s about a country. About people. It’s about a unique time in history. It’s a way to cut through the white noise of World Cup football coverage and create something unique and dynamic and fun.’
The title of Zack’s road trip, Tudo Bom, in Portuguese can be a question or an answer, literally meaning ‘All Good’. For Zack it is a play on words, “I like it because it’s really not all good in Brazil right now, so it’s a bit of a play between the celebration and dire state of affairs.
Born in 1979 in Boston, Zack is a photographer and filmmaker specialising in documentary projects. As a photographer, his work has taken him to India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mexico, China, Brazil, Eastern Europe, and Nigeria for a number of clients – including the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and Time magazine, focusing on reportage and street photography.
